You can install a solar system in an existing House as adaptation, but it works even better if it is designed in the new building (more on this in a moment).
When Terry McIlveen built his house in Maine, in 1997, the unusual decision was made to install underfloor heating. "People thought I was crazy," he says. However, since that time, the radiant floor heat has become increasingly popular and is easy to understand why. This type of heating system works by pumping hot water - or water and propylene glycol (antifreeze) - through a system of pipes on the ground. This means that the houses that used this heating system will get hot from the floor up. In the winter, there is no cold floors beneath the feet - instead of the plant is the hottest part of the House.
McIlveen soon discovered additional benefits - underfloor heating is a great game with solar hot water. If it heats your home already with hot water, is just one step more, water with solar thermal energy. In the spring of 2010 McIlveen was review energy to install solar panels to solar companies in Southern Maine on roof to help heat your home and cause your water hot, which reduced its fuel of up to 25 percent annual consumption;
The system will cost $20,000, McIlveen opted to finance with a loan. Your exact savings of fuel per year, how much running the heating in winter, and that has not stopped changing fuel prices for heating - but depends on, knows that if saves only two tanks of fuel per year, which can cover the loan payments.
Solar hot water for heating will not provide 100 percent of the heat demand. You need to have an additional heat source so that you can, not scrapping your oven or boiler. But you can in the new construction, this additional heat source will be much cheaper (a smaller system, for example). However, under the right conditions can a solar system to replace a significant portion of conventional sources of energy for heating and hot water.
Tim Merrigan, director of programs for heating and solar cooling at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, said that a solar thermal system can be up to 40 percent of annual Heizlast for some owners. Bob Ramlow, which is a solar consultant with many years of experience in solar systems, says that the majority of people in places properly insulated can densely built houses save up to 50 percent.
The use of more solar energy and less fossil fuels has many benefits for the environment. To invest in a system as well, to reduce the emissions of GHG greenhouse and other forms of pollution, fossil fuels, mining and burning of origin. But there are cost savings often, also, because hot water with free solar light, and the savings in heating costs are added. Ramlow therefore emphasise that, if you are the prize for a system, price tag, but the return on investment of the time look not only at the beginning. The return is subject to a number of factors, including the price of fuel oil, its radiation of solar energy and the average load. Ramlow estimated for solar systems installed in Wisconsin, it is a typical ROI between 10 and 15 percent annually.

Radiant Floor Heat and Other Alternatives
Heating and premises, located in the heart of each solar system, but owners must decide how best to to distribute the heat throughout the building. There are several options.
Distribution of heat underfloor heating to solar collectors tailor-made because relatively low water temperatures can be 120 degrees Fahrenheit or less. This is also in the field of heat, the solar collectors can be easy to produce. This type of heating system typically includes high mass, such as concrete and brick. This thermal mass help save heat and is similar to changes in internal loosening temperatures the gradually heated.
Traditional radiators seems that it would be another good option, since they must have hot water. However, not so successful to marry solar radiator can. Water are if they are bordering tube ribs or independent iron cast range, typically for radiators is trained for temperatures ranging from 160 to 180 degrees. Reaching this temperature is a real stretch for solar collectors.
